Rah vie?

Sobre a origem do nome do blog,  e pra treinar o inglês!  :P

So what’s the origin for such a weird title, you may ask?

Well, voilà! That’s a long story…Let’s start from my name.

Raissa comes from the ancient French, and it means ‘thinker’ (mom, you got it right on that one!) and in Greek, derives from this τριαντάφυλλο which means ‘rose’. But my parents had no idea I’d be their thinker rose… They chose to call me like that because of a fine young lady called Raissa Gorbachev (below), known for her intelligence and good deeds to society as well as being the woman who stole Mikail Gorbachev’s heart, former head of state of the USSR.

But Raissa wasn’t the most popular name in Brazil until this hit soap opera called ‘America’ cameclip_image008 up. The character they named Raissa was definately not what you can call a role model – nothing compared to Mrs. Gorbachev – she was a rebel spoiled daughter of two filthy rich parents who were constantly fighting. One day she decides to run away from home and hang out with the ‘funk’ people (upbeat music style born in the Brazilian ghetto). I’m not sure how she ended up, but you will surely see more little Raissas walking around now. These soaps have an amazing power of setting trends here.

As for the actual title (about time!) let’s use an equation:

Rah + vie = Ravie, where:

Rah = affectionate abbreviation of my name used by friends and family

vie = ‘life’, in French

Ravie = french female adjective, that according to Le Dictionnaire [http://www.linternaute.com/dictionnaire/fr/definition/ravi/] means ‘amused, charmed, happy, delighted, excited, in full bloom, cheery, satisfied, elated, flown, joyful, blissful, cheerful, radiant.”

I guess that’s how I try to live my life and face this world, and how everyone should.

Now you do the math.

:D
